The Wings of a Formula One Race Car
Summary: The front and rear wings of a Formula One race car, much more than the engine or chassis, can determine how fast the car can go and, in turn, how successful that car's racing team can be. Along with the diffuser and drag, the wings serve as an integral part of the aerodynamics of a Formula One car; they provide the downforce necessary to keep the car from lifting off the ground at high speed.
Formula One, motorsports in general too, rely greatly upon aerodynamic feats. It is the perhaps the world's most technically advanced sport in the world. The engineering behind the construction of a Formula One car is more aviation oriented as opposed to being automotive oriented. In the world of Formula One, depending on how the front wings are designed and utilised, the wings can either make a team a dominant force or it will make a team a failure.
