Summary: Appling the ideas of Kalhil Gibran's chapter "Joy and Sorrow" to real life and personal experiences, helped me relate joy and sorrow to love and loss.
I always consider myself lucky to have had my heart broken as deeply and as early as I did. I consider myself one of the school of "better to have loved and lost..." who unlike most, find the concept of heart break reassuring and promising, who are in awe of the masses of untouched raw emotion stored within themselves and the roller coaster rides on which these emotions take them. My stories, in the end, led me to experience a much deeper sorrow than most had before seventeen, but also brought me far more joy than most of my peers could even imagine. In order to understand how I reached my "rollercoaster" and how it led me where it did, we must first discuss the story of my first love and what led up to it.
