Alcohol causes birth defects after conception, but can also decrease the numbers of having children in the future. Different types of drinking can affect the fetus in several different ways. Binge drinking, which is when you consume a large amount of alcohol in a short period of time, is more harmful than drinking over the period of a week because the mother's blood alcohol content is raised much higher.
