When a mother intakes alcohol during her pregnancy, the baby with most likely be diagnosed at birth with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Effects, Partial fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Alcohol Related Neurodevelopmental Disorder, or Alcohol Related Birth Defects. All of these birth defects are preventable and can happen to anyone.

Alcohol causes birth defects after conception, but can also decrease the numbers of having children in the future. Different types of drinking can affect the fetus in several different ways. Binge drinking, which is when you consume a large amount of alcohol in a short period of time, is more harmful than drinking over the period of a week because the mother's blood alcohol content is raised much higher. The effects of FAS and all the other alcohol problems with children are permanent. The facts show, that one in every 900 babies born are diagnosed with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.
