When: This Crisis took place in 1954 -1959, but conflicts still arose until 1974 when the state divided in two.

Where: The crisis took place on the island state of Cypriot.

Background Causes and Conflict:

Cyprus was part of the Ottoman Empire, until 1878 when it was placed under British rule and made a crown colony. Cyprus was mostly of Greek heritage, so Greece thought that Cyprus should be united (enosis) with Greece. The Greek Cypriots of the country wanted to have enosis with Greece, but the Turkish Cypriots thought that this was a bad idea, thus causing tension among the country.
