Innocent Children Kept in Prison Cells

Summary: Various prisons worldwide allow inmate mothers to have their children live with them in order to maintain the mother-child bond, usually until the child becomes five years of age. But prison is no place for a child, and prisoners should not be allowed to serve their time in a "family setting."
Ask yourself this question, what is a prison? Here's the answer; a prison is "a place or condition of confinement or forcible restraint", (www.dictionary.com). Now ask yourself, is this a place for an innocent child? The answer is obvious, no. Despite the obvious, various prisons around the world are allowing inmate mothers to have their children live with them. This means that children are being forced to stay behind prison walls in order to protect the mother/child bond. "While the environment does have a family orientation, it's still very much a prison where kids serve time with their mothers", (Brian Handwerk). One of Asia's largest prisons, the New Delhi prison, is allowing some mothers to keep their children with them until the age of five. Five?
