Moruroa "The Big Secret"

Summary: Michel Daëron's documentary "Moruroa" explores the aftereffects of nuclear testing in French Polynesia and the French decision to withhold information abut the testing from the native population, known as "The Big Secret." Daëron uses black-and-white archival photographs, foreshadowing, and a scene of a native family that has been impacted by the testing, to set the stage effectively for the rest of the documentary.
The G (For General Exhibition) rated documentary "Moruroa," directed by Michel Daëron explores the after effect and the withholding of information connected to the nuclear/atomic bomb testing in French Polynesia.

The opening sequence sets in motion with black and white, still images of atomic tests and other related captions. When the first black and white image appears on screen, simultaneously the neutral sound of the voice-over giving factual information, starting with the date, July 16 1945, the date when the U.S tested the first atomic bomb. Moving on to the French nuclear testing, the voice-over mentions how the French had to move their tests from northern Africa to Moruroa `The Big Secret' which they later misspell mururowa this shows that they realised that the tests too dangerous to be carried out that close to France, therefore they had to move to Moruroa.
