Julius Caesar: a Positive Influence on Rome

Summary: Julius Caesar's influence on Rome is greater than that of any other Roman emperor, and he left a positive impression on the Roman Empire. Caesar's military campaigns expanded the empire further into Europe; Caesar transformed Roman government from a republic to a dictatorship; and he introduced many reform measures that improved the quality of life for Romans.
The Roman Empire is one of the most vast ancient empires to have ever existed. Its colonies stretch out from the Italian Peninsula, to all throughout Europe, including France, Spain, and Britain. It has colonies in Asia and even Africa. Rome has enjoyed much wealth, and military strength. Much of this success is due to the rulers of Rome, and the changes they brought upon the empire. Particularly Julius Caesar, who's influence on Rome is greater than any other ruler of Rome. It is arguable that the changes he brought upon Rome are negative. However, this interpretation of Caesar's effect on Rome is misguided. Julius Caesar clearly left a positive influence on the Roman Empire, which is displayed by his contribution to the expansion of the empire, the change the empire undergoes from a republic to a dictatorship, and the numerous positive reformations led by Julius Caesar.
