When five identical little girls were born on May 28th, 1934, the world stopped. Yvonne, Cecile, Annette, Marie, and Emilie Dionne were born just outside of Callandar, Ontario, Canada. Despite the best intentions, the Dionne quintuplets were publicly and privately exploited, which caused severe psychological effects on these five small girls. These girls were over 2 months premature, and weighed only 13 lbs and 6oz together. The birth was difficult and almost cost the life of their mother Elzire Dionne. The birth was also a medical miracle. 1 "The chances of a woman giving birth to fraternal quintuplets were 44 million to one.
