Alien: A Landmark Science-Fiction Movie

Summary: The 1979 movie "Alien," directed by Ridley Scott, was a landmark movie becaues it combined the genres of science fiction, horror and adventure in a way never accomplished before. The movie incorporates the influence of feminism and its specific characters are designed to be a microcosm of societal norms and status. The movie also presented the interplay of nature and technology in a new light.
With the release of, Ridley Scott's alien, in 1979 cinematic history was redefined. Not only did it have spectacular cinematography, but it also incorporated many of the genres, which were still in their working stages, such a Sci-Fi, thriller, horror and adventure. The movie incorporates the influence of feminism at the time and with its use of specific characters, was a microcosm of societal norms and status. Through this, many issues and ideologies, such as matriarchal societies were raised. The movie also presented the interplay of nature and technology in a new light.

The characters, which were selected and the roles in which they portrayed immaculately, were not just there for entertainment, they were representatives of what makes up our society and each character in the movie had a specific role in the film, as they would stereotypically in society.
