The movie ``in my fathers name´´ is a great way to describe how the conditions in Ireland were and are today. The story takes place in Ireland in the 1970, and we follow the half Irish catholic, half hippie street punker Gerry( Gerrard) in his struggle for what he want`s. As most teenagers, he is in a rebellion against his father, who is both onest and correct in every way, while he tries to give Gerry a job. Gerry who doesn`t want to be a normal working class hero leaves for England and a better life for himself. On his way over to England (the main enemy of evry Irish if you ask the IRA) and the capital London, Garry runs into an old class mate of his called Paul, who also is going to London to seek glory.
