Menai is a well known location within the Sutherland Shire south east of the Sydney CBD, and over the past 20 yrs there has been massive urban growth still occurring today. Most of the urban growth has occurred near the Menai/Bangor area but by looking at population charts you can clearly see that urban growth has occurred in one way or another all over Menai.

The History of Menai goes back to 1840 where only a few permanent residents lived, and little did they know that this small area was going to become a major part in the Sutherland Shire. Menai was first settled in by Owen Jones in 1840, he called the district Bangor, however by 1910 he had renamed the district to Menai. In 1907 the first Church was built and was known as "the church in the bush." In 1916 Shackles Estate along the Woronora River was subdivided for holiday...
