Summary: Software piracy hurts the computing industry and has many causes and effects.
Within a decade the computer software industry has grown massive. Software ranging from media, games to application has become essential in many households. However, due to this growth, a major problem has arisen, and that is piracy. Piracy is a major issue to both software developers and consumer. It should be contained to a minimal level or better yet, eliminated, because it is a form of theft.

The major cause of piracy is that some consumers do not wish to pay the full retail price for the software. First the consumer may feel paying retail price is not reasonable if it is considerably high. For example a fully licensed version of the popular word processor "Microsoft Word" retails at around $100. Another reason could be that some consumers are not very financial stable but really desire to acquire certain software. Now, because of that piracy has become very easy...
