The Future of American Education
Summary: Explores the future of the American education system. Discusses alternative teaching methods. Provides personal insight on the quality of teachers.
In my eyes, the ideal classroom setting would have to based on the subject-matter, person administrating the lesson(s), and the audience it is being presented to. Ideally, as long as students are corrupt to think and learn for and from themselves, it doesn't really matter if the setting is a classroom, a gymnasium, or an asphalt playground. Although I cannot recall a specific experience in the classroom at this moment that stands out in my mind as being the best, I can say that I have gained the most value from "alternative" teaching methods such as: movies and other multimedia, debates, competitive games in which one half of the class faced the other half for extra credit points on an upcoming test for the side with better knowledge of the material, open ended creative writing assignments, and the like.
