The Life Story of Barry Bonds

Summary: A short biography about baseball great Barry Bonds.
Barry Lamar Bonds was born on July 24, 1964 in Riverside, California. His father, Bobby Bonds, at the time was already becoming a baseball legend so Bonds was influenced to begin baseball at a young age. His talent began to show in Arizona State college were he became the captain of the baseball team and led in all categories of hitting, stealing, homerunning and RBIs.

Bonds started of in the MLB in 1986, when drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates, as a center fielder and then later moved over to left field. What makes Barry Bonds so great is not only his gift of hitting but his overall play on the field. His superb speed and strength allow him to easily get to the ball and throw it infield. Probably the most spectacular part of Bond's gameplay is his patience at the plate.

Bonds was traded in 1993 to the San Fancisco Giants and continues his career there as one of the greatest hitters of all time. Bonds made 10 All-Star appearances; 1990, 1992-1998, 2000-2002. He became the only player to win five MVP All-Star awards. Although he led his team through the playoffs many times and even made it to the World Series in 2002, Bonds still has not won a World Championship. After just recently passing his Godfather, Willie Mays, and breaking the record of home runs in a single season with 73, Bonds has moved up to third spot on the all-time record list in home runs with 667. Bonds has also reached several milestones including his 2,000th hit in 1999, his 1,000 RBI in 1997 and his 500 stolen bases in 2003. If Bonds keeps up this pace, he is expected to conquer many more records and become the greatest power-hitter baseball has ever seen.
