Summary: An inspector calls was written in 1934 and set in the 1912. The play seems to revolve around the Birling family and how they are all linked to a women called Eva Smith.

An inspector calls was written in 1934 and set in the 1912. The play seems to revolve around the Birling family and how they are all linked to a women called Eva Smith. Its about An inspector Goole turning up one night at the Birling residents who were holding a dinner party to celebrate the engagement of Sheila Birling the daughter of Arthur Birling (a wealthy industrialist) at the time.

All the characters were greatly affected by Inspector Goole and what he had to say about the women Eva Smith about how she was an innocent victim. Though I do believe that Sheila Birling was most affected by all that happened and I also believe that Sheila changed the most.

In this essay I will analyse each individual character by looking at their attitudes, status and behaviour.
