Aim:

To calculate the acceleration of a moving object.

Procedures:

The following apparatuses were used in conducting the experiment:

• ticker timer
• power pack (60vAC)
• paper strip
• physics cart
• ramp
• text books

1. The ramp was placed on top of the text books to form a slope.
2. The ticker timer was placed on top of the text books and connected to the power pack.
3. A paper strip was inserted into the ticker timer (under the carbon paper) and was attached to the physics cart, which was held in place on the slope.
4. The power was turned on as the physics cart was released.
5. The experiment was repeated three times and the intervals between dots on the paper strip were measured, recorded and analyzed.

The intervals between dots on the paper strip were close together at first and then became further apart.
