Hoosier Hysteria

When most people think of Indiana University, they think of it synonymously with basketball. Although basketball wasn't created in Indiana, the Hoosiers seem to have perfected it. In Indiana, basketball is just as competitive from "Bitty Ball" all the way up to the professional level. The Hoosiers have a storied tradition in excellence and it continues today.

Indiana University played their first basketball game on February 8th, 1901 and lost to Butler University by three. Exactly a month later, they won their first game ever with a final score of twenty-six to seventeen. That win began the tradition of winning for the school. Indiana has a winning record against just about every team excluding Kentucky, Pittsburgh, Purdue, and Temple.

Indiana's tournament success includes thirty two tournament appearances, fifty eight tournament victories, eight final fours, and five NCAA championships (1940, 1953, 1976, 1981, and 1986). Their regular season success is twenty big ten...
