New reproductive technology now facilitates choosing the sex of children before birth, but is this practice right? The latest methods of sex selection, MicroSort and Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis, provide techniques for parents to select which gender of child they would like with out invasive surgery or termination of fetuses. This ability, although convenient, raises ethical questions regarding its moral injustice. Families use these systems to create family balance and receive a child of a sex that did not previously exist in their family. These revolutionary techniques create controversy among the people as some believe the practice is beneficial, and others think it is wrong and should be prohibited. Because of this practice's overall moral injustice and adverse consequences, sex selection in the United States should be illegal, except when used to prevent sex-linked diseases.
