"The Scarlet Letter" Character Sketches

Summary: The three main characters of "The Scarlet Letter" by Nathaniel Hawthorne--Hester Prynne, Roger Chillingworth, and Arthur Dimmesdale--are very different personalities who approach their problems in very different ways; ways in which their true character is revealed.
The poor and gentle Snow White was constantly on the run from her evil stepmother, the queen who wanted her dead simply because of her beauty. Almost every child in America has grown up with the tale of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, cheering Snow White on through her desperate attempts to escape the spiteful hands of the queen. Many tales similar to that of Snow White's are told through time; these tales include characters like the fragile protagonist who tries to escape the clutches of the evil antagonist, who is always opposing the antagonist, as well as other characters helping the story along. The Scarlet Letter is a story about three people who are each uniquely different, and how they deal with the challenges that come their way: through the decisions, they make, their true nature is revealed.
