Summary: Vimy Ridge was the most important battle Canadian soldiers have ever fought. It brought upon many new innovative ideas that are now used today in war. The Battle of Vimy Ridge was an innovation in its time, and perhaps we will be able to find something so revolutionary to fight our battles today.
April 9, 1917. A day that will live forever in the minds and hearts of Canadians. A day of success that inflicted a crushing defeat on the German forces, and demonstrated to the world how strong Canada was. The day of Vimy Ridge. Two of the main tactics that were used to win over Vimy Ridge were the creeping barrage and leap frogging. Also, the very accurate planning that took place influenced the Battle of Vimy Ridge by giving soldiers the advantage of being able to know every single detail of the terrain and all of the objectives, which in turn allowed Canadians to defeat the German's impregnable hold with a stunning victory. Revolutionary success, innovative tactics, and precise planning made Vimy Ridge the battle that changed the way war was fought on the Western Front.
