Summary: It's difficult to determine in Arthurian legends which parts are based on historical events and which parts are ficitional. Writers over the ages could have easily added or embellished material. Two legends that can be compared to see their differences in style are "The Coronation of King Arthur" by Sir Thomas Malory and "Hollow Hills" by Mary Stewart.
Arthurian legends have raised eyebrows for several decades; are the stories based on myths or actual historical events that took place during the European Middle Ages? Or perhaps a mixture of both? There is no clear-cut answer that verifies the source of these controversial stories, or even a "correct" version of these stories, for they have been passed on orally through generations and generations and has thus caused alterations, modifications, abridgements and even contradictions to the original story. Each writer, storyteller, and even movie director has his or her own `style' when it comes to portraying these stories; they each have their own distinctive way in presenting their `versions' to the story.
