Summary: Humankind's reluctance to believe in something that appears to be exceptional or beyond an individual's range of experience is a key theme of Gabriel Garcia Marquez's "A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings."
Regularly, people are incredulous in whether or not believe in something exceptional. Gabriel Garcia Marquez's "An Old Man with Enormous Wings" illustrates the unbelieving experience of a man, Pelayo, who as walking to his house saw an old man with gigantic wings. A neighbor woman, who knew everything about life, explained everything to them, Pelayo and his wife Elisenda. "He's an angel. He must have been coming for the child, but the poor fellow is so old that the rain knocked him down." Their newborn baby was sick and that was the explanation from the woman. Marquez give the reader the sensation to a very well described and narrated point of view; however, the characterization for the old man was not as credulous due to the lack of description from the third person point of view.
