My Favorite Book: The Autobiography of Malcolm X

Summary: A review of The Autobiography of Malcolm X, the only legacy of a leading figure in the Civil Rights Movement who showed tremendous amounts of heroism and courage. The autobiography has profoundly affected many people, both black and white, who have read it.
My Favorite Book

Over the course of the summer I read four mind-boggling novels. The mandatory Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, The Color Purple, Black Boy and of course The Autobiography of Malcolm X. I chose these specific novels because after reading the short summary on the back, the themes always caught my attention. Malcolm X was my favorite book because he was able to display the transition of a man from the lowest depths of society to one of the most respected and remembered victims in the world. Malcolm once stated "It is a time for martyrs now, and if I am to be one, it will be for the cause of brotherhood. That's the only thing that can save this country." Because of Malcolm X's motivational oratorical style about racial discrimination, this autobiography deserves to remain on our schools grade 10 reading list.
