Father Figures in "East Is East," "Celebration," and "Once Were Warriors"

Summary: A comparison and contrast of the father figures in the films "East is East," "Celebration," and "Once Were Warriors." While the personalities of these father figures range from traditional to unfamiliar, all three prove to be inept fathers with at least some degree of violent atrtributes and a lack of restraint.
In theses three films, each has a similar father figure. That is each has comparable qualities. The father in East is East is the most traditional and "normal" of the fathers, in Celebration the father is the one we are most unfamiliar with and in We were once warriors we can at least sympathize with this father. The quality that all these men share is there ineptitude at being proper fathers.

East is East is a comedic film therefore the character of the father is a somewhat less violent version than the others. Aside from one brutal and inappropriate beating of his wife the father in East is East is a meek character only wishing to uphold his ideals. He is essential a morally centered person (from his point of view). He provides to the best of his abilities and seeks to maintain his religion in a world...
