The Dispute by Denmark and Canada over Hans Island
Summary: A tiny island off the northwest coast of Greenland, Hans Island, is at the center of a territory dispute between Canada and Denmark. Permanent habitation on the island is not possible, but the promise of mineral resources and fossil records on the island make it valuable to both countries.
A tiny island in the North is questioning the Canadian sovereignty over the Arctic. The island is referred to as `Hans Island', and despite itself, it is giving Canada a hard time over solidifying a complete ownership over it. A challenger, in this struggle for power, is the Danish government with its derivative wasteland, Greenland. The spark between the two countries was actually ignited 35 years ago, and just last year, when the spark was ignited once again, it caught on fire with the drought of Canadian attention toward the Arctic. The blaze may very well spread into the personal lives of Canadian citizens, as well as the very foundation of Canada's foreign policies.
So far, no page has been turned yet for both countries' Arctic agenda. A series of peaceful nudges and handshakes did slightly more than a column of article in the C-section, but it did awaken...
