For generations, people around the globe have celebrated. In America, we celebrate the Fourth of July to symbolize our breaking away from British rule. Every year, at different times across the globe, people take a break to celebrate the starting of a New Year. Peace has always been a reason for jubilation, but never as much as was seen at Woodstock. There, on a hot weekend in August of 1969, 500,000 people came together, creating a milestone by celebrating peace and love through music.

"The four men shook hands...they were changing the entire generation of America from the 70's and onward" (Bell 3). Artie Kornfield and Michal Lang came up with the idea of starting a new record company called Woodstock Ventures after the V.P of capitol records, Lang, signed Kornfield's band to a record contract.
