Chinchillas

Summary: Describes the South American Rodent the Chin Chin also know as the Chinchilla. Explores their physical description, their shelter and lifestyle, and their adaptations.
The chinchilla is famed for its warm, amazingly soft fur. Chinchillas used to be the targets of the world's most lucrative trapping industry. Now they are rare in the wild and will probably never fully recover. Out of all the animals in the world the chinchilla is my favorite. Three reasons I like chinchillas are because of their physical description, their shelter and lifestyle, and their adaptations.

One reason I like Chinchillas is because of their physical description. First of all, they are nine to fifteen inches for head and body, plus five to eight inches for tail, weighing fourteen to twenty-eight ounces and are rabbit sized animals. Second of all, they have super soft, very dense fur. Finally, they have short legs, four toes, bushy tails, very cute oval ears, and round black eyes.

Another reason I like Chinchillas is because of their shelter and lifestyle. They live on rocky mountain slopes in the Andes mountains. Also they eat roots, grasses, and other plant material. Plus they are social rodents that live in colonies that have over one hundred animals pure colony.

The last reason I like Chinchillas is because of their adaptations. First, they are quick and agile and they climb steep cliffs to get away from hunters. Second, they are used as pets and also slaughtered by thousands for their fur. Last, they are extremely rare, less than ten thousand in the wild, and it does well in captivity.

In conclusion, Chinchillas are my favorite animals in the whole wide world. They are my favorite because of their physical description, adaptations, and their habitat and lifestyle.
