Sharon Christa Corrigan was born on September 2, 1948 in Boston, Massachusetts. She was the first of five children born to Edward and Grace Corrigan. As a baby she suffered from respiratory problems and digestive disorders, but she soon overcame her illnesses. Christa was introduced to education at a very young age. By the time she was eighteen months old she spoke in complete sentences and she was able to recite nursery rhymes.
