A Beacon of Hope: the World Food Program

Summary: Researches the World Food Program sponsored by the United Nations. Describes how the WFP has handled poverty over the years. Evaluates the success of the organization.
When I set my mind on researching the United Nations World Food Program, I had a visual image of a an advertisement of theirs I saw on the Arabic satellite news network Al-Jazeera: as sad, emotional, and moving music is playing in the background, the camera focus's on the faces of poverty, malnourished, brown skinned, sad children living on the dirt ground. The music subtly shifts to an uplifting theme as a plane marked with the letters "WFP" graciously drops bags of food. The children's faces glow with joy and happiness.

Evaluating an organization that deals with poverty for this research paper is not solely an academic endeavor. Poverty on this resource abundant Earth is a personal burden which presses me to contemplate solutions and strategies to help equip me with the education necessary to alleviate these conditions in my future career.
