Inter-textuality in Relation to an Expository Text and Two Feature Articles
By definition, nonfiction expository texts intend to primarily inform and elucidate detailed ideals in reference to relevant social issues, events and cultural cohorts. Therefore the necessity for entertainment as well as social relevance can be dubious in relation to the specific text, although is a very proficient tool in subconsciously engaging the target audience to recognise the relationships that unite themselves, the writer, the text and socio-cultural contexts-thus enabling them to originate a strong sense of meaning. The "best selling" expository text, "Raising Boys" by Steve Biddulph, successfully connects the required social awareness of masculinity, parenting and happiness to a thought-provoking, heart-warming and easily approachable style- thereby achieving it's principle purpose, "to shift your heart as well as your thinking." Whilst reading the text, I found myself establishing connections with previous studied feature articles, "The Money or the Trees" by Andrew Denton and "Boarderline" by Cameron Stewart. Furthermore...
