Pop Art was a movement that had its climax around the 1960's. Artists prior to this date felt that art had to be a focus on beautiful objects such as humans and nature. However the Pop Art movement changed this way of thinking. They felt that art should be a focus of society's culture, such as the increasing influence of the media and advertising. The two artists were similar in that their art works were reproductions of what society at the time found important to them "popular culture." Whilst Lichtenstein focused his art on cartoonism and comic strips, which was a high form of entertainment during the 60's, Warhol focused on mass production, and the influence celebrities had over the world.
