Summary: This essay is about Australia's White Australia Policy. The focus points were when it was implented, how was it implented, and what ideologies were behind its implentation.
In 2001, Australia united to celebrate their "Centenary of Federation", but it was also a time to commemorate the infamous White Australian Policy. The policy was introduced in the 1850's was totally abandoned and the word "multiculturalism" was introduced to our shores in 1973. This was answered with continuing arrivals of Asian migrants.

The White Australia Policy ensured that all non-European people were not allowed to legally enter the country. The government at the time wanted a totally "White Australia." This was the begining of the White Australia Policy.

The policy was brought about to manage the people who entered our country. It can be traced back to the 1850's, when large numbers of Chinese people came to Australia during the gold rushes. The Australian population disliked many of their cultural beliefs and did not like the serious personalities the Chinese portrayed.
