Changing values, attitudes and threads are what make up the film, Muriel's Wedding. Muriel Hesslop, is a young, unsought woman, idealised by the songs of Abba, and attempts to force a change within her but leads into creating only an image, not a true change until the end.The film uses the aspects of design - that is the sets, props, lighting, colour, casting, costume, makeup and special effects to illustrate the changes within the characters and the environment in which the film surrounds them in. The motif in the film for the setting changes is represented by a bouquet.It also creates the basis for colour changes in the set, such as the dull colours of Muriel's initial life in Porpoise Spit to the bright calypso colours of Hibiscus Island.
