The Three Godfathers

Summary: Essay provides a discussion about the movie "The Three Godfathers."
Just before Christmas, three outlaws rob a bank in Welcome, Arizona, and flee into the desert. The town marshal moves swiftly to cut them off from the wells along their escape route, so they run to another, deep in the desert. There's no water waiting for them, but there is a woman on the verge of death, and also of giving birth. The three badmen accept her wishes as godfathers to her baby. These men, along with the baby and the town they set off too are symbols in this story.

The three men are symbols of the Three Wise Men. They go to the town of New Jerusalem, just like the Three Wise Men going to Jerusalem. Their lives are just like Jesus' life, a sacrifice for the greater good.

They leave for the town of New Jerusalem with the woman's Bible as a roadmap. It is...
