In the next 2 months, 15 U.S. States will be experiencing an event that hasn't occurred since 1987. An invasion, an invasion of a swarm of insects known as the Cicadas. The largest group, or brood, of periodical cicadas is set to invade the eastern U.S. Cicadas are locust like insects that spend most of their lives as nymphs, burrowed underground and sucking sap from tree roots. They emerge once every 17 years, transform into adults, reproduce, and then die. Adult periodical cicadas have a black exoskeleton, reddish orange eyes and range from an inch and half long. Adults have clear wings with orange veins that are held roof like over their bodies.

There are different broods. This year's brood is known as brood X. There are 3 varied species of these 17 year cicadas, but all emerge simultaneously. Each group has its own hissing sound. I believe everyone here today is...
