Summary: Essay examines life in the 1950's and how the suburbs took hold.
The 1950s were a period of American pride and honor. Times were great following World War II, the postwar economy was booming and never have so many people had so much time on their hands. People were in the spending mood and their seemed to be no shortage of money. Contemplating the turmoil and stress of the last three-and-a-half decades, many Americans idealized the easeful golden days of the 1950s. Our lifestyle today, as Americans blossomed in the 1950's and helped define what people refer to as the American way.

Before the 1950's playing and spending money frivolously was virtually unheard of. Their was a depression and wars going on that didn't allow money to be thrown away on appliances and toys.
