This is a question many revolutionaries have posed throughout our history, and one that is especially pertinent to the Russian Revolution. Was it a clear revolutionary manifesto and authoritative leadership that resulted in the overthrow of the old system? Was it simply the accumulation of centuries of tyranny and oppression by the government which finally culminated in revolution? Unfortunately for us there is no definitive answer, only a compromise found between the opposite ends of the argument. The reason for this is due to the many smaller revolutions that contributed in part to the entire Russian Revolution.
