Summary: Examination of Ursula Riggs and how she changed through the occurrances in the book with Matt.
Ursula Riggs is a very private person due to the fact that she cannot trust people, until she meets someone she can confide in and relate to. Although Ursula is a very strong and self-sufficient person, yet she has constant paranoid notions of public gossip and self-hating thoughts. She refers to herself as "Ugly Girl" throughout the story, yet she seems to make up for her poor self-image with robustness; calling herself "Warrior Woman." Yet she is very committed, her persistence in not thinking about the cruel things people say to her is two-faced. She does not act on what people say to her until after they say it, where she contemplates deeply about how terrible she feels, instead of reacting in front of the ridiculer.
