Summary: Essay discusses how everyone should beappreciative for everything in life.
Appreciation for something or someone is when you show thanks or gratitude. The novel My Sister's Bones demonstrates that people have a difficult time expressing their gratefulness or appreciation for what they have that others may not. Many characters in this novel show us that people are too materialistic, and that people are creating unnecessary waste, which is hurting the environment. Furthermore, people are not valuing the things that we have in life that are not luxuries such as more food varieties and television. All these problems of waste could be overcome just by appreciating what you have by showing consideration towards people and items. Through this touching novel, Cathi Hanauer shows how many people take things for granted instead of appreciating what they have in life.
