Summary: This is a personal assessment to the progress I have made in an online English class.
Some people say that writing is a lost art, but I feel that though the process of composition has changed due to technological advances, the art of writing remains unhindered by technology. Computers have accomplished a great deal when it comes to new means of communication, such as e-mail, cell phones, and chat rooms. Old techniques have faded into the background; items such as hand written letters, typewriters, thesauruses, and encyclopedias, and have been replaced with computers, word processors, voice recognition software, and text messaging. Despite all these advancements, the basis of writing remains the same; regardless of whether it is in short form (i.e. lol, brb, rofl,) or a one page response that is written on a single page through all stages of its development (as in a word processor).
