The United States of America has and has had the best most powerful military force in the world, but that has not always been the case. During the the terms of our first four presidents, George Washington, John Adams, Thomsas Jefferson, and James Madison, we struggled with our forghen policy and dealing with the super powers of the time, Britin and France, who are at war with each other. The forghen policy of Washington and Adams twords Britin and France had many differences and many parallels with the policy of Jefferson and Madison, but their policy's were inefective at maintaining our neutrality and respect as a nation leading to The War of 1812.
