Flowers for Algernon, by Daniel Keyes, is a story of Charlie Gordon, a retarded man, whose life is transformed into a genius by a breakthrough in science. Instead of the story being written directly by Charlie or in 3rd Person, it is written in a journal entry format. More specifically, the entries are Progress Reports written by Charlie to the scientist conducting the experiment. This format of writing is unique because it allows Charlie to write about whatever he wants. These reports are also quite raw and untouched, leaving Charlie's original spelling and grammar in place. This style portrays Charlie's character development as noticed through his writing, narration, and emotions throughout his reports. The majority of major changes in Charlie's character can be noticed through his writing, I meen its hard not to notis wats rong with sumwons riting wen they are speling everythig rong.
