Have you ever thought that society determines your way of life? Well, Ayn Rand had that idea developing within her book, Anthem. Rand shows this way of life as a society in the future without technology. Everyone is equal in this world of hers and it is a crime to think otherwise. Thus, Ann Rand's book portrays that society determines your outcome in life. However, Equality, the main character, proves to the audience that just because people are placed in an environment does not mean it is going to determine their outcome.

Equality was very different from all the other people in his world. He was not only smarter, but also more handsome, and taller. Because of these things, society tried to slow him down to make him equal with the others. This however, did not work. Equality dreamed of being a scholar who could invent new things...
