Summary: Essay on Korean history leading up to the division of the country.
Korea is two countries that were divided. Korea is south of the Asian main land and borders China and Russia. It is a peninsula that runs 600 miles North to South and is about 200 miles wide. The Korean peninsula is predominantly mountainous. Korea borders the Yellow Sea and the Sea of Japan, the Yellow Sea on the West and Sea of Japan on the left. 80% of the terrain in Korea is too rugged and uninhabitable for cultivation. The other 20% are lowland that is suitable for settlement and cultivation. Because of the mountainous nature of Korea the lowland are important because they are main areas of human settlement. The river valleys are also important for both transportation and settlement. The river include the Chongchon and Taedong Rivers in North Korea and in South Korea the Imjin, Han, Pukhan, Kum and Naktong Rivers. The shape of the Korean peninsula itself is...
