American's development throughout its history was very dependent on influence from Europe. America itself does not have many traditions of its own. Many of our customs come from European predecessors. As a result of these influences come with concepts within themselves that can be seen throughout the country's development. Our founding fathers wanted to move away from all of these European traditions and prove that America can survive by itself along with all of the powerful countries in the world at that time. They knew that this country had to keep up appearances physically as well as culturally. In other words, they were setting up an American way of life different from all others.
