Summary: What effect does he have on the various characters and why?
In this essay I will be talking about The Inspector and what effects does he have on various characters. Ill be talking about The Inspector being calm and mysterious, how he causes tension and argues with the members of the family, ho the Inspector has knowledge in almost everything and he's always being in command.

On the entrance of The Inspector he was described as creating "an impression of massiveness, solidity and purposefulness. He is a man in his fifties; dressed in a plain darkish suit... he speaks carefully, weightily, and has a disconcerting habit of looking hard at the person he addresses before actually speaking." This shows that he's an important character.

As well in the start when the Inspector arrives, Birling is asking the questions instead of the Inspector and the Inspector makes Birling not comfortable by saying "yes, sir, only recently transferred", because Birling knows...
