History of Women's Basketball

Summary: My essay is about the history of women's basketball.
Women's basketball was started in 1892 by Senda Berenson. She took what James Naismith's basketball rules for men were and introduced them to women. Babe Didrikson was the first famous women player back in the 1920's. The first game wasn't played until four years after it originated.

When women's basketball actually started they played six players, three court game with stationery guards and forwards. It actually wasn't until the 1970's that it went to the five player full court game. Which we play now of days. On March 13,1895 Clara Gregory Baer publishes Basquette, the first set of women's basketball rules.

In the 1950's and 60's women's basketball even had their own version of a Michael Jordan which was Nera White. She could sink them from center court and only take three dribbles to get from side to side of the court. Nera White was known as Air Nera because...
