Workers Vs. Ranchers: Is There Any Difference?

Summary: Essay compares and contrasts the differences between workers and ranchers.
For the past twelve months, the American hero had a workers face. But for the past decade, people have admired and idolized the C.E.O.'s of huge corporations. But the nation stopped thinking about the little man, the man who works two jobs and only makes $7.50 to support his wife and children. Many of these men work at a regular store or on a farm. The nation looks down upon the farmers and ranchers, even though they provide the nation with food. The nation looks down upon the farmers and workers, because the citizens do not envy what they do or what the have.

"A wage earner seemed like a hasbeen, hopelessly out of touch with the opportunities all around," as stated by George Packer. Many people would look at a farmed and thing the same thing. Society looks at workers as failures that have no future. But even the farmers and ranchers feel the same resentment. The government ignores the farmers and ranchers when it comes to oil drilling on their property. The government treats them secondarily to the oil companies, because the oil companies give more money to the government.

What ever happened to earning a honest dollar? Obviously, that doesn't exist in the world anymore. Even the farmers and ranchers of the nation are though of as farmers, just like the working class. Whatever was fair and just in the nation twenty years ago in long gone.
