Levels of Processing
This coursework intends to look at Craik and Lockhart (1972) theory on levels of processing by replicating the experiment made by Craik and Tulving (1975). This will try to prove the hypothesis that `semantically processed words are significantly more likely to be remembered'. Craik and Lockhart looked at the idea that the way information is encoded affects how well it is remembered. The deeper the level of processing the easier the information is recalled.
The target population is 16-18yrs both male and female from two colleges in Wimbledon. The experiment will take place in the afternoon in a quiet, air conditioned class room with two groups of 15 people, totalling 30 people in total.
I have chosen to use a laboratory experiment with repeated measures. I will firstly give the participants a consent form to fill out, and then I will sit them down and show them cards with words...
