Summary: This essay shows how disney movies reflect the society that we live in.
American society has changed considerably in the last century. One way to observe these changes is through the viewing of Disney movies. Each Disney movie reflects American society, yet still keeps fairy tale images of magic, fantasy and romance. Although the themes of fantasy, magic and romance in Walt Disney movies do not change, the portrayals of the themes are altered along with the transforming society.

The history of Disney films started in 1937, with the movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Two other classic Disney movies followed Snow White, and they were, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. These three movies had female characters that resembled one another. They all played similar roles of the damsel in distress.
